Hi, I’m Brian Walker. I’m about to tell you where I got my passion for fixing your car troubles.
I started in 1994 at Audubon Imports, a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Baton Rouge, LA. This is where I first achieved "Mercedes-Benz Certified Technician" status.
In 1999 I married my wife, Kim, and we moved to Raleigh, North Carolina where I worked for Leith Mercedes Benz achieving "Mercedes-Benz Master Certified Technician" status. To achieve Master Technician Status, the technician must compete in a series of tests taken by all Mercedes-Benz dealer technicians. Those who place in the top 250 are awarded Master Technician Status.
As Leith’s Diagnostic Technician, I always was first to obtain the latest training from Mercedes-Benz. All of the cars with difficult electronic and computer control problems came to me. And since I love a challenge these were not stressful days for me, but rather enjoyable ones.
In 2002 I decided to open my own shop. I always felt that I could bring a higher level of service to my clients, so I set out to prove it. I named the shop "Behind the Star" and intended on working on only Mercedes-Benz vehicles. However, our customers had a different plan for us. After the personal service they received they began asking if we would work on the other vehicles in their driveway…and then their friends and families’ vehicles. As a result, we quickly outgrew our facility. So, we moved to Apex, NC and renamed the business "Peak Automotive".
But even with accolades and countless referrals, there can be a dark side to owning a business. In May of 2008 I was forced to close Peak Automotive due to the financial impact of a road construction project in front of our business. This is not unheard of—but with the damage done to my street presence, along with the struggling economy, I realized that I had to do what I could to keep my customers happy, and keep my own dream alive. I wasn’t going to take this sitting down. So I decided to keep moving.
This led me back to the beginning, but this time, with a twist: a mobile Mercedes-Benz repair service. I launched BenzTech, and now, construction projects don’t affect us at all, because I come to you, wherever you are, and bring the service and skill rewarded by so many right along with my equipment.
